Such a beautiful celebration of life for Joby Flores it was an honor to be a part of his home going! I'm not gonna lie, I felt like I had attended a Loboes play off game and we won and Joby made MVP! Even in Joby's death he brought together some of the greatest faces of Monahans and all over West Texas! The Pena family will continue to lift you all up in prayer! He was a great man and will be missed dearly.

I can see Joby Flores half way down the third base line squeezing both ear lobes, sliding his right hand down his left arm, left hand down his left thigh and clap twice as he walking backing to 3rd yelling "let's go joseph!" all that just to tell joseph to bunt!! Joby showed emotion in everything he did big or small! One bad dude!! This group of young men would agree!! Keith F. From almost as early as I can remember my family was always at the softball and baseball parks. My dad played on several softball teams that Joby was part of (I spent most of my time being the bat boy/self appointed hitting coach). I was also able to be part of the Mighty Monahans Rangers semi-pro baseball team, which Joby coached. It was an amazing experience for me. I was 8 years old and in a dugout with grown men. My first bench clearing brawl was a summer game against Odessa college. Steve and I left the dugout with bats in hand! Haha. Those summers prepared me for experiences later down the road in college. Most importantly, if it wasn’t for Joby putting those teams together, I would have never been able to see my dad play baseball.
I can remember dad taking me to first Mass on Sunday mornings so that we could get to the field early so I could jump in and take batting practice. I used to shag balls as well and always tried to show out and Joby would yell “SIGN HIM UP” if I did something good.
When I got into pony league and was entering the draft there was rumor that my best friend Noah Miles and I would not play if we didn’t play on the same team (which was actually not true). Joby didn’t take me second over all and I fell back into the arms of the Yankees. I gave him hell about not picking me. I used to love playing against his teams. They were always geared up to play us. They ended up beating us in the championship game but he did decide to pick up Noah and I for their playoff run. This is where I really fell in love with him. This dude was around 50 years old and was bumping Tupac, Snoop Dogg and Biggie Smalls!! He always had our backs as a coach and was not afraid to get after an ump.
He kept up with us during high school sports and even followed my college career.
I wore 80 in football and became a tight end from watching his son Joe when I was a kid.
I loved talking sports with Joby. I loved how he paid attention to not only how an athlete played on the field but also who they were off the field. He had a huge impact on me.
RIP JOBY
GOD BLESS THE FLORES FAMILY.

Tough day as the Flores family celebrated Joby Flores life...he definitely was a bad dude and a hell of a supporter of the Loboes..Armando Flores, you had one hell of a brother and Joe Flores and Steve, you guys had a great father who definitely loved his sports just as much as all you guys...I will forever be grateful just having conversations with Joby because he knew no stranger and treated all equally...the world shines brighter now that you guys and the family as well as all of us looking down on us!!
Rest easy Big Bad Joby, you were one hell of a dude and will be greatly missed by all!!

Joby Flores you were one of a kind!! I was very fortunate to have played for you as a pick up player in pony league, that was one of the most fun experiences I had as a player! You were demanding, tough, and competitive!! Most importantly you loved us all. I still remember driving in the car with Steven Flores on the way to Stephenville to play in the state tournament and spending a week with you guys to come out on top as champions!! I still have a mental picture of how he called the pitches. He sat on a bucket and would either scratch his chest or place his hand on his knee, all while looking into the field.
Fast forward some years later I somehow convinced Steven Flores to come to Permian (which he still gives me a hard time for) so I got to spend a lot more time around Joby. Joby was at almost all the games. He was not afraid to give you his opinion if he felt you needed to hear it!! I enjoyed talking to him about the games or just sports in general. The details he paid attention to during games was incredible. Great sports mind!! My son Jaxon just adored Joby. We rode back with Joby from the regional basketball tournament and they talked about sports the whole way. He would say, “Joby is hilarious.” That’s all he needed, from then on he always loved being around Joby and would always ask if Joby was coming to the games. When I broke the news to Jaxon he was extremely sad, Joby became Jaxons biggest fan. He wanted Joby to watch him grow and see him play as he got older. I assured him that Joby would be watching him from above.
Thank you for letting myself and my family be a part of you life!!
We love you and will miss you!

Today we lost a great man. A man that I loved & respected since I was a kid. If you played sports in Monahans, I guarantee you that he was one of your biggest supporters. I'm definitely going to miss all of his Facebook posts about sports. Prayers out to Joe & Steven. I know how you guys are feeling right now. I've been through it and I know how much you guys are hurting right now. Your Dad was an awesome man and I know he was nothing but proud of you two! Prayers to Norma, Armando and the entire Flores family.
Rest In Peace Joby Flores. You will definitely be missed!
